General Description:
Our energy sector Client has an immediate opening in their corporate Calgary office for a Senior Technical Analyst. This position reports to the Manager, Technical Support /Operations & PCs, and the primary responsibility is to manage, maintain, troubleshooting and correct problems on the Client’s enterprise network. Responsibilities of this position also include providing backup for Windows servers and AIX environment.
Specific Duties:
1. Competent to work independently as a project leader at the highest level of all phases of project management on complex projects including feasibility studies, requirement/problem definition, alternative identification, logic and physical design and implementation.
2. Competent to work independently and proactively to manage, maintain, support, troubleshooting and correct problems on the Client’s enterprise network infrastructure which includes the Local Area Network, Wide Area Network and Wireless LAN.
3. Evaluate and recommend network product and solutions.
4. Administer, configure and maintain all network components on the Client’s network using the corporate standard tool CiscoWorks.
5. Manage, support and monitor the Client’s network security including handling IDS/IPS appliances and firewalls.
6. Ensure all practices, processes and procedures are developed, documented and followed in accordance with the company and departmental standards.
7. Acts as the backup Windows and AIX administrator during the absence of the primary administrators.
8. Provide directions, guidance, assistance, training and coaching to junior staff and business.
9. Provide backup to other areas in Technical Support.
Skills/Experience Needed:
- In-depth knowledge and experience on network management at a corporate level – a minimum of 5 years experience at a senior level.
- In-depth knowledge and experience on Cisco network equipment and CiscoWorks.
- Must possess an academic institution degree in computer science or related discipline. Cisco CCNA Certification and Microsoft Windows certification desired.
- Strong project management experience and be able to lead a team to meet project and work schedule on complex projects.
- Good problem solving, analytical and design skills.
- A strong ‘make it happen’, positive, flexible and constructive mature work attitude.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- As a backup to other areas of the Technical Support group, this position requires a minimum of 2 years Windows server administrator and/or AIX server administrator experience.
- Must be able to travel to all the operational sites and be flexible to work off-hours as required.
