Job Description :The Manager, IT Infrastructure is
responsible for providing leadership and direction expert on
all IT system operations infrastructure including: technical architecture, networks, system security,
virtual environments, server infrastructure, database management, data and log
analysis and reporting, telecommunication standards, disaster recovery, and overseeing public and
staff computing equipment (excluding RFID).
This includes vendor relations and maintaining operations in compliance
with international standards as well as within legislative, business,
budgetary, and policy requirements.
Must Have Primary Skills :
- Identifying short and long-term technology operations and
service needs which support strategic directions.
- Participating in the development of IT Services division
plans and leading the subsequent implementation of IT infrastructure
initiatives.
- Identifying technology needs within the division and in
consultation with Team Chairs and service point/division Managers as part of
the annual system hardware and software technology budget submissions.
- Ensuring the technical infrastructure assets
(e.g. network, internet, servers, ILS, software configurations, data,
equipment) are properly managed, secured, licensed, maintained, and protected
from identifiable risks.
- Managing upgrades and enhancements to IT infrastructure;
creating and adhering to annual schedules that ensure risk to systems is
mitigated.
- Preserving assets by scheduling and implementing back-up
procedures, information security and control structures and documentation, and
implementing disaster recovery.
- Managing the IT asset inventory; planning and
implementing the annual hardware evergreening and desktop computing
hardware/software upgrades.
- Recommending IT infrastructure strategies and procedures;
identifying problems; evaluating trends; and anticipating requirements.
- Identifying need for new or revised technology policies and
practices as they relate to management of IT infrastructure; ensuring IT
infrastructure documentation is created and kept current.
