Our Client has an opening in their Calgary location for an IT Project Manager. This is a permanent position with attractive benefits.
Essential Functions

The role of the IT Project Manager is to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. The IT Project Manager will also define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.

  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
  • Track project milestones and deliverables.
  • Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas.
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
  • Conduct project post mortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.
  • Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Four year university degree in computer science or related fields of study.
  • PMP or CAPM certification and 5 years direct work experience in a project management capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Minimum three years work experience in requirements gathering and documentation.
  • Strong familiarity with PMBOK project management framework and agile software development methodology.
  • Strong familiarity with various computer technologies and software programs, such as application programming, database and operating systems, and current internet technologies.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft technologies, including Microsoft directory services, Microsoft office suites, and SharePoint.
  • Experience in software testing and quality assurance methodology.
  • Solid understanding of software test phases, techniques and how they fit into the SDLC.
  • Good understanding of defect lifecycle and defect tracking tools.
  • Experience developing and executing test plans, test cases, etc.
  • Positive attitude, adaptable, and ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
